From London Recruiter to Australia’s Cybersecurity Career Coach
I began my recruitment career in March 2011, joining a boutique firm in London specialising in finance and accounting. Working within Financial Services, I built a strong network of candidates and clients across retail and investment banking, investment management, brokerages, and exchanges.
In January 2016, I moved to Australia to establish and launch the firm’s Sydney office, building the branch from the ground up. My focus during this period was Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) recruitment across all facets of Financial Services.
In 2020, I founded Avidity Recruitment, specialising in GRC and Cybersecurity. I also joined SSR Personnel, a global security recruitment firm, as a Director, where I launched and continue to lead their Australian operations.
Beyond recruitment, I serve as Regional Advisor for The Outstanding Security Performance Awards (OSPAs) in Australia and New Zealand. In early 2024, I launched my YouTube channel sharing career insights and cybersecurity advice. In January 2025, I founded Luke Gough Coaching and Consulting, specialising in career coaching for job seekers, career changers, and professionals looking to advance in cybersecurity and GRC.

The Journey
Started in Recruitment, London, UK

Founded Avidity Recruitment + Joined SSR Personnel
Founded Avidity Recruitment, specialising in GRC and Cybersecurity. Also joined SSR Personnel, a global security recruitment firm, as a Director to launch and lead their Australian operations. Named Regional Advisor for the OSPAs in Australia and New Zealand.
Launched YouTube Channel
Started sharing free career advice and cybersecurity industry insights on YouTube, helping job seekers and career changers understand how to break into and advance in the security sector.
Founded Luke Gough Coaching and Consulting
Launched a specialist coaching practice for job seekers, career changers, and professionals looking to advance in cybersecurity and GRC. Still actively recruiting, which means coaching advice is always grounded in what is actually happening in the market right now.
